We
offer the following sporting activities to the children of our
school:

This
page contains basic information regarding the above sports.
Further communication regarding each sport will follow via notices,
newsletters and announcements. Also check the notice board outside
the school hall (western side) for further information.
Please take notice of the dress
code for each sport and ensure that your child is geared
accordingly.
For queries regarding sport in
general, parents are welcome to contact Mr. Ryan Houbert during
school hours . Alternatively parents may contact the specific sport
co-ordinators and/or coaches.
Sport uniform queries may also be sent
to Mrs. Duvenage (Uniform Committee Representative) in the form of a
letter, via the School Office. |

ATHLETICS |

Dress |
White LRPS golf shirts, navy
embroidered short. Navy school tracksuit pants and the school
dri-mac may be worn in cold weather. |

Season |
The athletics season starts in the
third term of the year. The inter-house meeting normally takes
place in the first week of the third term. The athletics team
is selected according to the results of the inter-house meeting and
this team represents LRPS at interschool meetings.
We organize three friendly athletics
meetings against other schools. These meetings allow us to
prepare our athletes for the interschool meeting at Pilditch.
Athletes who win medals at the
interschool meeting qualify to participate at the Prestige athletics
meeting where they compete against all the best athletes from the
English schools in Pretoria. |

CRICKET |

Dress |
White shorts (Open
A – white long pants), white LRPS collared golf shirt, LRPS soccer
socks, navy LRPS cap or wide brimmed hat and white takkies.

| Season |
Cricket is played at
school during the 1st, 3rd and 4th terms.
The junior cricket is
run by the parents.
1st
term
The following teams are entered in
the competitive English league: U/9A and B; U/10A and B; U/11A and
B and Open A, B and C.
3rd term
The following teams are entered in
the Afrikaans league: Open A, U\11 A as well as U\10 A. We play
matches against the Afrikaans Schools in our area and this league
allows us to prepare our players for the provincial trials which
take place during the third term. The Open A team will be
competing in the day\night cricket league.
4th term
All teams are entered in the English
league such as during the 4th term. The Open A is also
entered in a Day-Night league and these matches are played on
Fridays |

NETBALL |

Dress |
Navy embroidered skirts (with shorts attached), white collared LRPS
golf shirts, white socks and white running shoes. The navy tracksuit
pants and dri-mac may be worn on cold days. |

Season |
Netball season starts in the 2nd
term. The following teams are entered in different leagues: U/8A
and B; U/9A and B; U/10A, B, C and D; U/11 A, B, C and D; U/12 A,
B, C and D; Open A, B, C and D.
LRPS participates in the Jacaranda
League where we play against the other English and some smaller
Afrikaans Schools in Pretoria. After completion of the competitive
league we normally end the season with the inter-house matches

Slipslops as the tar can get hot when exiting the bus. Navy
tracksuit pants as well as dri-macs may be worn on cold days.

Season |
Swimming at LRPS takes place during
the 1st and 4th terms.
Our interhouse gala takes place
during the 1st term. The swimmers
for our different teams are selected according to the time trial
results. Two swimming teams are entered in
different leagues in Pretoria.
Training sessions take place in the
mornings before school as well as in the afternoons.
During the 4th term we participate in friendly galas

SOCCER |

Season |
The soccer season runs
in the 2nd term, some games will continue into the 3rd
term. |

Team participation |
We enter the following teams in the
English soccer league: U/10A and B; U/11A and B and Open A, B, C
and D.
The following teams also play in
the Challenge Cup which is a knock-out competition: U/10A, U/11A,
U/14A and the Open A and B teams. The final game
in this popular competition, where most schools in Pretoria
participate in, is usually played at the Caledonian stadium.
