NETBALL

WELCOME TO NETBALL AT LYNNWOOD RIDGE PRIMARY

SPORT

Our aim

Our aim for each girl who participates in the game of netball is to enjoy the game within the bounds of the rules of netball; to improve her personal netball skills and to be a part of the team.  Ball skills, defending and shooting techniques as well as game tactics will enjoy our attention. Fitness will improve throughout the season as we focus on doing our team proud at each match in the spirit of good sportsmanship.

Practices

You may wear normal shoes and T-shirts to practice, with takkies or bare feet. You may not wear ski-pants or midriff tops.

Bring a water bottle with water. If you have your own ball, bring it along. All jewelry and watches should preferably stay at home day. Hair must be properly tied back out of the face. If you are unable to attend a practice for any reason you are to let the teacher know by way of a letter first thing in the morning.  If your coach is not at school in the morning then take your letter to Mrs. Botha. Be punctual for your practice, this is a sign of courteousness.

Inter-house netball

Each year our girls enjoy a healthy Interhouse  competition.  Each house selects three teams (Junior, Intermediate and Senior team).  During June we play one another on different rounds until we have the final winners.

The captain

The captain for the match will take charge of the bibs and ball.

After the match the captain is to collect the bibs and take them home to be cleaned.

The ball is to be returned to the coach before going home.

Next to … and on … the court

As spectators we may sit next to the court in the designated area.

We may shout for our team but we may not coach or shout abuse to the umpires or any other player.

We may not move up and down the outside of the court while the ball is in play.

While on the court we always have good manners and show good sportsmanship.

If you feel you are treated unfairly, you may discuss this with the coach at half time or after the match before you leave the field.

Good luck and have fun!
