We thank you in anticipation of your support!

Due dates for class work activities, projects and assignments

Each term, a timetable is given to every child to take home, giving the due dates for formal assessment activities for each subject.  These dates need to be displayed clearly at home, so that both parents and children are well-aware. Children need to adhere strictly to the given dates.   Teachers also have due dates for marks!

  • The problem often arises when the learners are given time in class to do the work and they arrive unprepared with the research, pictures etc. needed to complete the activity.

  • Parents please check that your child is pasting in the homework sheet in their diary each Monday and check that your child comes to school, prepared for lessons. Please sign these  homework sheets to show that you are monitoring them.

  • Some learners also do not complete work, in the time given and take it home to complete, but then fail to complete and also do not hand in the work by the due date.

Learning to meet deadlines is an important life skill.  We request that parents reinforce what we are trying to teach our children with regard to good work ethic and to monitor their child’s progress as due dates approach.

KEEP FORMAL ASSESSMENT TIMETABLE CLEARLY VISIBLE AT HOME!

The policy with regard to work being handed in late will be as follows:

  • Work not handed in on the due date – the learner loses 10% of the maximum marks.

  • Work still not handed in on the next school day - will receive zero.

  • The above also applies to prepared speeches and reading.

  • If a child is absent it is imperative that parents complete Pg 9  in the diary as proof, as verbal excuses will not be accepted.  It is the absent child’s responsibility to speak to the teacher concerned and to catch up work promptly on return to school.

  • Children must also be prepared for oral work.  E.g. speeches, prepared reading on the due date.
