LETTER FOR P.E. LESSONS

Dear Parents/Guardians,

 Regarding Physical Education Lessons

P.E. is part of the Life Skills Learning Area. At Lynnwood Ridge Primary School swimming is taught during Terms 1 and 4. Ball skills, athletics and gymnastics are presented during Terms 2 and 3. P.E. is held once in our 6 day cycle.

It is of great concern that some children seldom, if ever, bring the correct clothing to school and therefore do not participate in this very important lesson.

The correct clothes are as follows:

Swimming: a swimming costume (speedo for boys and a full piece for girls), a swimming cap and a towel. It is not necessary to buy the school costume if your child is not in a swimming team.

Ball skills and gymnastics: the children may come to school on their particular P.E. day (as shown on the weekly homework sheet) dressed in their house T-shirt, navy shorts, white socks and white tekkies. You will be receiving a letter if your child wears the incorrect shorts or shoes to school. Please make sure that your child is dressed smartly and neatly at all times and that he/she wears the uniform with pride.

Physical Education is compulsory and is assessed every term for the report. The only case where a child may be excused is if they bring a written letter from their parents stating that they are ill.

We sincerely request that parents/guardians assist us with this issue. P.E. lessons are a vital part of your child’s development.

In addition to the weekly P.E. lessons we also have a “Sports Period” once in every 6 days. The aim of this extra period is to encourage children to become involved in extra mural activities. The children are exposed to soccer, netball, mini cricket and games during this period. P.E. clothes may also be worn for the Sports Period.

Thank you for your support in this very important matter.
